Our season for black bear opens August 15^th. Bear are attracted to the area due to the salmon migration and spawning in August and September. Huckleberry Mountain, near our Big Meadow satellite camp, is exceptionally good for locating several bear feeding at the same time on the berries during early to mid September. These are wilderness mountain bear that don’t usually attain the same massive size as the more domesticated farm livestock fed bear, or coastal bear.
