Our hunting season for caribou opens August 15th. Hunting is restricted to bulls defined as “Trophy Bulls” by the Wildlife Branch. The rut begins around September 20th. The hunting is best during the rut when caribou will be gathered in herds in, or near, the alpine on mountains with a rolling terrain. We have horse trails onto many of the mountains so most of the hunting can be done from horseback. Prior to the rut legal bulls are often found as single animals in the alpine, in the trees, or in meadows in the valleys.
